ロンドンからNilofar Akmut(ニロファ・アクムト)氏が来日、現在桜枝町にある、アーチスト・イン・レジデンスin善光寺界隈のレジデンスハウスに滞在、作品制作に励んでいます。11月7日から11月14日まで、滞在制作作品による個展を、FFS（フラットファイルスラッシュ）にて開催します。7日にはパフォーマンス及びオープニングパーティ（入場無料）を開催しますので、お誘い合わせの上お越し下さい。

なお最終日となる14日㈯午後1時より、ニロファー・アクムトによる「Shadow Puppet」と題するワークショップを行います。 インドネシアで行われている影絵を使った小物語による演劇を参加者おのおのが制作して演じる予定です。対象は小学生から大人まで。5時終了予定。参加費無料。

アーチスト・イン・レジデンスin善光寺界隈では先月のNYアーチスト、アラン・ハンに引き続き、ロンドンからニロファー・アクムトを招聘しました。
ニロファー・アクムトはロンドン在住のパキスタン人でパフォーマンス・アーチストです。今回行うパフォーマンスは、近年中近東を中心に無差別に行われ、多くの罪のない市民を巻き添えにする無人飛行機、ドローンによる攻撃に対する激しい怒りを表しています。

タイトル「PERFORMANCE AGAINST DRONE ATTACKS ON CIVILIANS」(パフォーマンス・アゲインスト・ドローンアッタク・オン・シヴィリアン」

パフォーマンスは7日㈯午後3時より、下記フラットファイルスラッシュギャラリー会場にて行われます。
入場料は無料となっています。ぜひご高覧ください。パフォーマンス終了後は彼女のインスタレーションを主体とした展覧会となります。
なお7日パフォーマンス終了後ささやかなオープニング・パーティを予定しています。
こちらも無料となっています。

Nilofar Akmut 1956~

Point of View

My performances relationship with object, film and sound is attempting to address the collective voice of civilian victims caught up in US led signature drone strikes against there war on terror to construct human haptic moments towards external violence.

I utilise the format of film which borrows from the documentary genre that provides hard evidence to substantiate my discourse and animation which through illusion of motion and shape brings to life still images gleaned from press reports and my personal archives of my photographic practice.

Women, men and children in these remote areas are infiltrated by terrorists who live amongst them and blend into a village to protect their own interests. Innocent members of these communities become the unintended victims of these drone attacks.

Unfortunately, in this instance I was unable to collect material evidence through field work of a bleak aftermath of wars, as is my practice because of the inaccessibility of that particular hinterland. I have had to rely on internet searches for my research on this subject matter. I recognise there is conflicting evidence as far as numbers goes and a reluctance to disclose the deaths for example of their secluded womenfolk because of tribal customs. I also choose not to make an iconic representation of an individual in my narrative although essential provides a limited reading, as the collective voice offers a greater version of communal dynamics and lays no one open to reprisals. No apology has been rendered for civilian deaths by state or non-state actors, for this travesty.
