平成23年度「アーチスト・イン・レジデンスin善光寺界隈」　招聘アーチストによるワークショップを行います。
招聘アーチスト：Vojtech Masa (ヴォイチェフ・マーシャ）　出身国　チェコ共和国　年齢29歳　男性
内容：
チェコ出身の彼が、彼の印象でとらえた善光寺の講堂内の絵画の中に、ワークショップ参加者が思い描いた、善光寺秘仏のイメージ絵画を中央に配置し、全体を写真で記録するというもの。
それぞれの参加者事に、アーチストとのコラボレーション絵画を制作し写真記録。
後日行う、花蔵での個展会場に、各参加者事の作品と共に、写真プリントで展示する予定。
参加対象者：幼稚園児から大人まで
参加費：500円　幼稚園、小中高校生は無料

Konnichiwa! Wataši no namae wa Vojtěch desu. Čeko kara kimashita. Wataši wa, kyó kita koto o totemo urešiku omoimasu.

Today, our topic is Secret Buddha in Zenko-ji temple. Did anybody from you see Secret Buddha? Probably not.
Could anybody of you please tell me and to all of us what or who is Secret Buddha?

I will have an exhibition in Nagano next week and on one of my picture there is Zenko-ji temple. {bring the painting}. Wait a moment, I will bring the painting.
Probably all of you were in Zenko-ji at least once. Please zvedněte ruku, who was in Zenko-ji at least once. And please zvedněte ruku, who was in Zenko-ji early in the morning to see the morning rituals of monks. Did you like it?
As you can see on the painting there is not Zenko-ji as you maybe know it from pictures or from your visits in Zenko-ji. Some people things when they see my paintings for the first time that maybe they are not finished. But usually what I want to show is the most important things. From my visits in Zenko-ji, the most important things are that things which you can see on the picture. It means: monk's shoes, golden light here, the ceiling etc. So when you will look at this picture you may think that something is missing. But for me it is finished, because everything important is already there.

But maybe something is really missing. It is something what you cannot see even if you would come to Zenko-ji and if you would search for it as much as it is possible; because nobody can see it but anyway it is in Zenko-ji. Does anybody know what I mean?

I suppose you have heard a lot about Secret Buddha. From your parents, friends, grandparents, the older might read about him in some books, newspapers. So you can have some image about him.

So your quest this afternoon will be to draw or paint this Secret Buddha. You can use colors, pencils, felt-pens, pastels, whatever. You can even make more pictures and then decide which is the best for you. But please try to draw or paint Secret Buddha in your own way. There is no need that the people will recognize that it is Secret Buddha, but the most important is to show your image inside you and feeling of Secret Buddha on the paper and to show it to all the other people. The most important is the mystery that nobody can see Secret Buddha, but everybody knows that he is there. So you can make it like a person, but also like you want – only circle, ornament, only nice coloured paper, but you can also draw him like a person. It is Secret Buddha as you feel him.

So please look at this picture and find some good place for secret Buddha. There is a lot of empty space where the Secret Buddha can be. Then please take a paper, some pencils, colors, as you want and you can start to draw.

Then after you will be finished, we will stick the paper on the painting and make a photo of your and my painting together for each of you. Then we will print out those photos and we will exhibit them together with the rest of my paintings on Tuesday in a gallery in Nagano.

Vojtěch Maša: P O E T R Y H U N T E R / (Czech Republic)

This exhibition consists of drawings and paintings which I made in August 2011 during my residence in the grounds of Zenko-ji.

I was interested in more topics through that time. The first topics which I used, was those, which I read in newspaper. For example Gaddafi or Somalia pirates. The next was fragments of some imaginary detective story, maybe „black chronicle“ story in newspaper. (I included texts to that pictures). The other topic was Nagano Olympic Games in 1998 where the Czech republic, where I am coming from, got a gold medal from ice hockey.

The next, maybe the most imortant topic for me is my self-portraits in Japanese situations: for example me in Japanese Kei car, me eating Japanese food, me as Japanese bussinessman. You can read those pictures as my imaginary parralel dreamer's life.
